In October 2019, VIDAL partnered with Commonpoint Queens, a 501(c)(3) community-based organization in New York City, to provide remote college counseling services to a cohort of 20 seniors and 20 juniors from Forest Hills High School in NYC. Over the 2019-20 academic year, each senior will receive a minimum of 5 hours of individualized college counseling support, while each junior will receive a minimum of 2.5 hours of such support. In total, a minimum of 150 hours of college counseling assistance will be provided to these students so that they are set up for success!

As a result of this partnership, every senior is receiving a minimum of the following support:

  • Edited Personal Statement, following critiques and feedback for student growth

  • Edited Supplemental Essay(s), following critiques and feedback for student growth

  • Resume

  • Finalized CommonApp Activities List

  • 6+ Application Submissions per student

  • FAFSA support & submission

  • CSS Profile support & submission, if applicable

Likewise, juniors will begin making headway on many of the above tasks by spring 2020.

As of December 1, 90 hours of support have been provided and Early Decision applications have been submitted to schools like Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt, Columbia University, and American University. Over the coming weeks and months, updates will be provided here and across our social media accounts to detail student stories and successes! Stay tuned!
